Thank you so much for the app
Thank you so much for the app
The Work is important. I believe it is primordial that the app has a “draft” mode that allows you to work through any worksheet as if you had just started it. I have “lost” work because I had to stop working on the worksheet (ran out of time, life happens, interruptions...) and when I try to go back to it to finish it, the incomplete worksheet is in my work journal but the “edit” function only allows some of the things (add a turnaround but not the 3 situations, for example) to be added (edited in), but does not allow for you to follow the worksheet workflow as if you had just started it. It is great that everything I put in the first go is automatically saved. Now just need to be able to continue the work already started at a different time/session.
App will not open
I heard Katie mention that they are working on the app again. If this is true, please include dark mode in the update! The white interface is killing my eyes at night when I want to do the Work before bed. Also please update the design to allow more space inside each text box and allow scrolling. Landscape mode is needed for the iPad version. Lastly the way the emotions list pops up very tiny could be improved (and the emotions could be alphabetized!). Thank you for this app, it's making a difference in my life.
Have downloaded the app 2 times and it still won’t open
I can see how this app will be more helpful than the paper worksheets I never have on me when I want to do the work, but please make the tweak to allow it to be viewed horizontally when I have it attached to my keyboard to type out my thoughts. Please! thank you!
I am using it for the first time, and while it definitely helps me do “the work“, the app can be very irritating in that you can’t see your full answers, and when I went back to adjust something I’d spent a long time thinking about and writing down, it deleted all of it. It frustrated me enough to stop using it for now. If you write simple, short answers, it will work for you, but sometimes there’s a lot more to write to get at the deeper levels of “the work“.
Extremely valuable!
I recently purchased this app because I love the flexibility of using it while I’m traveling. I have only done 2 worksheets and now it crashes each time I try and open it. If I dump the app and try to reinstall will it make me purchase it again?
I’ve been doing the work for a few years and this podcast supports my understanding and soothes me in times of worry. Cannot overstate the improvement in my peace of mind!
I love The Work and thank you for making this app. In this review, I’m reviewing the app itself. I hesitated before buying this even after reading many of Katie’s books and watching hours of sessions. The app hasn’t been updated in nearly 4 years which made me worried it was developed for old phones and then abandoned. It feels a little clunky on newer phones. The screen space feels unnecessarily constrained die to the black bars. Entering text is more difficult. I think this is because the keyboard isn’t the modern one that fits iPhones without the home button (iPhone X and later). It interferes with my typing habits enough to cause me difficulty typing. This is probably not noticeable on iPhones with home buttons. Other interface elements could be tidied and modernized. The navigation between steps in the work are a hard to interact with, and skipping back very far is slow (I gave up fixing a spelling error in my belief because I only noticed it at the turnarounds, yes I can go back and edit it later). If you accidentally add a turnaround you don’t need, you end up having to put some filler text permanently there because it doesn’t let you leave it blank. I can’t find any way to remove a turn around once it’s added. I also couldn’t see what turn arounds I’d already written after adding the one I didn’t need. Going back from that empty turn around acts like I haven’t done any turnarounds, so I thought it deleted them. I’d love to be able to see all the turn arounds I’ve written already when I’m trying to write the next one so I don’t repeat myself. Overall, the work itself is great and this app is worth the purchase if you are like me and work better on my phone than paper. I’m impressed with how well it guides you through. The app itself could be better with some attention and modernization. I almost didn’t buy it because it looked abandoned, and I might not be the only one making that choice. Turn around: I’m a little clunky and have some glitches. (Yep, also true, and opinionated, and long winded, LOL) thank you!
I am delighted with how easy it is to use this app. It makes it much easier to follow the inquiry process. However, using this app on an iPad with a keyboard, and trying to read sidewise, is very uncomfortable. Make the app work in landscape mode on an iPad and I will up the number of stars.
The Work is so powerful but the app misses on a couple of easy to fix points; 1: Unable to put it in landscape mode on my ipad to use the keyboard. 2: It needs to be lockable. Please help with these two issues!
I appreciate this app and enjoy using it to meditate on The Work. I would like to know if I can change the orientation so that when I use the app on an iPad, I can use an attached keyboard, which must be done in the landscape, not portrait orientation? Other than that, I love this app!
Really appreciating The Work app. 100% recommend. When I go to edit my journal, it doesn’t allow me to add another turnaround. Only allows me to correct my turnarounds. Would like this fixed.
I love the work and I’m really grateful for this lovely app to help me do it more often and to have one place to keep all my worksheets, and revisit them as needed. Everything is here, it’s really simple and easy to use. I like how you can do just a belief, or how you can do the whole JYN worksheet and it’ll separate it out into beliefs as you go, and I can question each one individually. It’s a cool structure. HOWEVER, I do have problem with it...I REALLY wish it would go into landscape mode! There’s a lot of typing to do and it bums me out that the screen won’t rotate so I can use my keyboard on my iPad. If the developers would fix this and let the screen rotate, it would be perfect. As it is, it’s worth using even thought I have to tilt my head and type with everything all 90degrees off. I guess I could write a worksheet about it, haha!
I just starting using this app today and I love the ability to journal but I don’t like that it doesn’t require a sign in or password. I would also like the ability to have my information available to me whether I’m on my cell phone, my iPad or my MacBook. It doesn’t appear that this is an available option right now. I do love having the mobile app because pen and paper is not always available when you have that moment that you need to do The Work.
As noted in other reviews, your can’t type in landscape mode. Also, it is set up as a several page form, so looking at the entire worksheet while filling it out is not possible. That needlessly complicates things though it may make sense on the smaller iPhone screen. I will resort to creating my own set of forms for my iPad journal. Save your money if your main goal is to use this on iPad.
I’ve just recently downloaded as an additional resource to do my work. My only issue is that i would love for the app to switch the view from vertical to horizontal. I have a keyboard for my iPad, and it would be of much more use to me. Otherwise, it is easy to use and in depth. Well done.
Others have mentioned this and it’s true - very distracting to work on an iPAD and not have the screen orientation rotate.
I love the work and Byron Katie and having this on my phone actually makes my phone time more productive and easier to do the work when I can’t reach a pen and paper. HOWEVER PLEASE PLEASE update, when you’re writing in the boxes you can not see what you’ve written if you exceed the space. We’re encouraged to run our thoughts to the end but there is no space, please help us with this small But important fix.
This app is for iPads and it won’t go to landscape. Why bother? So annoying I have to do the work around this app. Brilliant you guys!
My criticism here has nothing to do with Byron Katie’s method or worksheet concept, but the app itself is poorly designed and basically unsupported, especially considering what an incredibly simple concept filling out a worksheet is. It’s to the point where I won’t use it at all because on my iPad it won’t rotate into landscape mode so I can type on my keyboard. Also, the input fields don’t track your typing inputs, so it’s difficult to edit or see what you’ve written if you’ve filled up the limited visibility text box. Someone please update this app and fix these very simple issues!
The content and process of The Work is incredibly powerful... something I’m so grateful for. May keyboards for the iPad, including the one made by apple which most people probably own, only allow for landscape typing. There is no way to use the keyboard in portrait mode, making the use of the app on an iPad incredibly inconvenient.
Without landscape view it is a pain to use a keyboard with the app. Not a deal breaker. Other than that...the whole practice is just brilliant. Really worth more stars...I just wanted someone to notice.
This is an immensely helpful tool to guide you though a conversation with your mind. You can disarm harmful thoughts, reframe the problem and find peace. I’m new to the work and I can not recommend her process enough. It’s life changing.
I recently downloaded the work app and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use and interface with. It makes doing The Work simple and accessible, which is the best for when strong emotions and fearful thoughts arise. I love it! Anytime I’m stressed out it’s so easy to just pull up the app on my phone and do The Work for 5-10 minutes and finish feeling like a completely different person then I was before. It makes doing The Work more do-able. I highly recommend purchasing the app, it’s worth way more then the cheap .99¢ cost. I can do The Work anywhere now, without having to have a paper and pen in hand.
I love almost everything about the application. It’s convenient, it’s easy to use, practical and full of everything I’d need or want in a virtual journal for The Work. The only thing that irritates me: how the JYN worksheet’s what do you think of that person always auto scrolls to the very end of where the text ended, even if the cursor is in the very beginning of the text. This is very inconvenient when I want to change something in the beginning, because I cannot see what I’m doing. Only the end of the text is visible. Please change. Otherwise, it’s great. Thank you.
Wish this app would rotate to a landscape mode so I could use my iPad Pro which is connected to a keyboard but in a landscape mode, not portrait..
This is a great app but I would use it much more if it rotated to landscape for ipad.
This is a good app but it really needs to be updated so that the app can rotate to landscape so that people with an iPad can type their answers using a keyboard. Not having the ability to use my keyboard makes this app way more cumbersome and unpleasant to use. Even if you have an upgraded version at a higher price, that allows for this, I’d pay for it.
The app works very well on my phone. I can see it is constantly being improved by reading past reviews and seeing what it actually does today. I use it daily and it’s getting more and more effective for me. Having this at my fingertips makes it possible to inquire anytime. That’s the point, constantly chipping away at false beliefs and mental misconceptions that cause my pointless suffering. This makes it simple, there is no excuse not to spend a moment and work a thought, explore any troublesome state of mind or body. It is always helpful and I’m beginning to naturally inquire this way as Katie describes with the practice this app provides. The questions are becoming part of my thinking process and my insanity is easing. There is a history log so I can see where I’ve been, how silly past unexamined thinking was. I see my progress and it encourages me, I directly experience moving towards joy and freedom. Best mental health bargain I know.
Techies...we Love BK and this app! Please update to landscape mode. Pretty please.
5 stars for walking you through The Work. 1 star for usability. A simple modification so the app rotates to landscape mode would make it so much more usable. I use a keyboard with my iPad but can't use it with this app, which isn't helpful. Probably worth .99.
Have filled out the "judge your neighbor" to step 4, three times now when the app crashes. Not too enticing to continue repeatedly re-entering the same info with no result.
It crashes all the time & has glitches w/ content/format. Am sure this can be better. Please try Byron Katie tech people, because it's a great idea! We need this app on-the-go if we're going to make the world more compassionate and ourselves less crazy.
I was introduced to the work 14 years ago but rarely do it because the worksheet by itself doesn't work for me. This app helps me go deeper and move through what's troubling me.
The work has changed my life and my mindscape. I use this frequently and I find great relief in doing the work
I discovered Byron Katie a week ago and feel in love with her work and her! How beautiful is it to have this tool available at your fingertips! Peace of mind is on your phone! Who knew?! I would've given it 5 stars but I do agree with the other reviews about being able to lock the app itself & also it would be great to be able to save our work in a file but delete it from this format..thank you
The font is too small and I'm unable to use my fingers to enlarge the text on my iPhone. It's not very easy in the eyes in my opinion. I tried one of the worksheets but instead of reflecting on the "work" I found I felt frustrated with the layout.
I love the app and I love doing the Work. Please add: 1. a password option. I think it makes sense to protect the info in the journal. 2. an option to delete a journal entry or delete all journal entries. With those 2 options added I would immediately upgrade to 5 stars.
Need to be able to delete saved forms because it saves things prematurely so I have a bunch of empty or unwanted forms taking up space on the list. Also, when completing a "Situation" sheet and then moving to creating sheets for those individual Beliefs, the sheets are not saving correctly. The titles are blank (not populating correctly). So saving of forms has major glitches. But the flow of the forms and the idea is great and I'm liking using it. Would also like to be able to email myself the forms to print out or share with others.
After I easily glide through the judge your neighbor worksheet, (it's awesome and flawless!) it lets me go through the statements I've written to investigate using the 4 questions.. The only problem is, it takes me to the four questions, but the beliefs that I click on, aren't showing up where they should. It's left blank. Then when I go back to past entries, it shows up there. I'd love to see this glitch worked out so I can actually use this app! Until then I'll just use the PDF on the website because this is too glitchy. Great app for the most part! The concept is awesome! Thank you!
I wish it had an audio option, where the questions could be asked out-loud in Katie's voice.
This app has lots of glitches and needs major technical work.
This app is very helpful and a great tool in doing the work. Functions well. Great guide. Nice journal. Thanks for making this!
This app is much needed to support Macpro. Many of us work on Mac laptops while doing this type of meditative work with more space on a keyboard and screen vs just the iphone or iPad (too small). Additionally, password protection is needed due to the sensitie nature of content one reveals while doing the work.
I love the app, makes it so easy to do the work. Here are some enhancements I'd like to see-- in the turnaround section, add in "I look forward to...". Also in turnaround section, give examples for thoughts, not just people, I.e. "My thoughts..."
It was a long wait but boy, was it worth it - this new and improved app is a simple and accessible way to do the Work. I basically gave up all hope but I genuinely thank the developers for revamping this app to great effect at long last. Thank you.
